Why vote for Terri Tobey

I am running for the office of State Representative because I believe that I am the best person to represent District 22. I am a strong, common-sense conservative leader with solid family values, real-world business experience who believes that serving public office is about representing the interests of the entire community– not special interests or self interest. I will be a voice reason and make sure the decisions I make in legislature are truly a representation of the people in the district.

For 15 years, I successfully worked with top industry leaders, law firms, corporate legal departments, as well as Federal and States courts, on how to increase their effectiveness and reduce costs through the implementation of practical solutions and technology. I have worked with Fortune 100 companies and The Am Law 250 representing such companies as Motorola, Exxon, Freescale, RTC, ITT, Varco, Met Life, Sony/Tri Star, Microsoft, Jones Day, Steptoe & Johnson, Stinson Morrison & Hecker, Lewis & Rocca, Snell & Wilmer, Greenberg Traurig, White & Case, etc. I am also the former Associate Group Publisher for The American Lawyer, National Law Journal, Law Technology News, Corporate Counsel Magazine, IP World Wide and Am Law Tech and the start-up team for www.law.com.

In 2002, I became the President of inData Software Corporation, LLC of Gilbert, AZ. inData was responsible for the first 'paperless trial' in 1989 and has been recognized as the true pioneers in legal technology. Recently I founded Tobey Co., LLC which provides business development consulting to companies that specialize in on-line publishing, on-line education and legal information technology. My clients include Marquis Who's Who In America, The Hill, LegalSpan, BMC Corporation as well as others. In addition, I hold my Arizona Real Estate License and Life, Health & Accident Insurance License in Arizona, Texas, Virginia and Oklahoma.

We are at pivotal point in the State of Arizona. We have experienced tremendous growth. As a result of that growth, we have tremendous opportunity and incredible challenges. I will work to empower our state to continue to grow, provide lasting and sustainable prosperity and maintain and improve the quality of life for not only ourselves but for our children and their children. Those are the core issues of this campaign and future campaigns. As part of that, I am committed to making sure our children have the best education possible to prepare them to compete in a global market. I am committed to developing and implementing the necessary planning to further economic development in our state and make sure that we are competitive in attracting new businesses, new industries, new investors and new neighbors. I will be aggressive and relentless in making sure that Arizona is a safe place to live and raise a family. I am committed to effectively dealing with illegal immigration so that we can go back to being the country that inspired the Statute of Liberty. These, as well as numerous other issues that I will face as a State Legislator, require openness and willingness to seek good, reasonable, effective and pragmatic solutions from state, county and local officials, as well as private industry. It requires the ability to work together. The legislature does not have ALL THE ANSWERS. We cannot accomplish any of these goals by having legislators that are dogmatic, ideological and have a perverted sense of conservatism. We can be conservative and effective.

Our current legislators have developed reputations for being bullies and unwilling to listen to not only their constituents, but also their peers. They have begun to display a lack of sound judgment which is represented in their records. They have passed unconstitutional legislation in an attempt to force 'their solution' on the taxpayers which could result in tremendous additional costs to the taxpayers. They have attempted to block legislation that was needed to improve the safety and congestion of our highways and streets. They have blocked legislation that would have put habitual violent criminals away for life. They refuse to make spousal rape carry the same penalty as a rape committed by a stranger, yet they were unwilling to change the ridiculous law that made it a felony for a mother to breast feed her child in public. They even attempted to protect and reward deadbeat parents who effectively hide in an effort to avoid paying child support by releasing them from any financial obligation after only 3 years of emancipation. And one in particular, has one of the worst attendance records in legislature As a result, and with just cause, they have lost the respect from many of their peers and constituents and are therefore ineffective and should no longer be able to represent the voters of our district.
